Position Overview

The Senior Logistics & Trade Compliance Specialist ensures all import and export activities and transactions comply with Customs and other government agency regulations. Functions as an import/export resource for the organization. Assists the Trade Global Logistics Department by administering the Corporate Trade Compliance Program, leading the organization in import and export compliance processes and training. Job duties:
  • Documents, maintains and updates import compliance procedures.
  • Manages import & export transactions to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, including HTS validation, goods valuation, countries of origin, record keeping and special trade programs.
  • Coordinates and schedules import and export freight movements for FG and raw material.
  • Reviews and audits entry processes to insure customs clearance with brokers at destination.
  • Defines, implements and conducts compliance audits and ensures corrective action processes are in place to comply with U.S. and other government regulations.
  • Audits and reviews import and export documentation including shipper’s letter of instructions, commercial invoices, country of origin and valuation.
  • Actively improves import/export operation process controls and procedures.
  • Performs NAFTA product origin analysis and maintains NAFTA certifications.
  • Monitors and maintains HTS classifications for import and export parts database.
  • Collaborates closely with logistics managers, customs brokers and freight forwarders.
  • Acts as the liaison between the Materials Management team, foreign suppliers and carriers to streamline importation/exportation of raw and FG materials.
  • Supports all key stake holders with inbound FDA holds and import inspections.
  • Knowledge of Country of Origin determination.
  • Logistics Metrics development.
  • Review freight invoices and rates.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
    1. Bachelor’s degree or higher, with coursework in business is preferred.
    2. Minimum seven (7) years of experience in import/export and trade compliance with a distributor or manufacturer, commodity controls and regulatory and security initiatives.
    3. Prior experience in Logistics and trade compliance required.
    4. Demonstrated knowledge of trade regulations, including HTS classification, valuation, country of origin, marking and recordkeeping.
    Desired Qualifications
    1. Import and export compliance experience, product classifications – HTS, COO and valuation.
    2. General knowledge of key trade areas, including but not limited to; EAR, HTS, CFR, NAFTA, AES etc.
    3. Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations, EAR, NAFTA, AES, HTS.
    4. Experience in document controls and file management.
    5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    6. Ability to follow verbal and written communication.
    7. Must possess good organization skills.
    8. Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
